Mell Harrow

Melissa Harrow

Senior Environmental Engineer

Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental) (Hons)

Years with Umwelt:

Mel has five years experience as an environmental engineer across a diverse range of industries including mining, linear infrastructure and civil construction. Mel’s core skills encompass erosion and sediment control; water resources management and assessment including water quality analysis and flood assessment; and environmental management plan preparation.

During 2015 and 2016 Mel acted as an environment and community officer for the Bulga Optimisation Project (BOP), a construction project being undertaken at Bulga Open Cut Mine. This project included the construction of two sections of 330 kV powerline, 66 kV and 11 kV powerlines (both overland and underground), the construction of bridges for use by mining equipment, construction of infrastructure areas and facilities, establishment of water management infrastructure including permanent and temporary water management infrastructure and overland and underground pipelines.  Mel enjoys the diversity of working as an environmental engineer and the chance to get out on site to help clients solve water management issues in the field.

In her free time Mel teaches flexibility and aerial arts at a local dance studio. She loves pushing her students to the limit and celebrating with them when they learn new moves and skills.
