Operational Support
Umwelt has extensive experience in providing operational support to assist clients to improve the environmental performance of mining, industry, resource and infrastructure development projects. A number of our senior staff have previously performed site environment and community roles. The depth of this experience enables us to provide valuable assistance to clients, which includes the development and implementation of practical environmental management solutions to address their strategic and day to day site environmental management issues.
Services and Capabilities
We have particular skills in:
- developing and implementing Environmental Management Systems including Environmental Management Plans and Procedures;
- compilation of Mining Operations Plans and Subsidence Management Plans;
- developing and delivering environmental awareness training packages;
- conducting due diligence reviews including pre-clearance inspections;
- providing a range of auditing and review services, which includes assessing compliance with regulatory requirements; the adequacy of environmental management systems; and the effectiveness of pollution control systems (e.g. hydrocarbon containment and spill prevention, pipeline management etc);
- environmental management supervision of mining, industry and infrastructure development projects;
- providing a range of engineering services including water management design, water balance reviews, surface and ground water hydrology including flood modelling;
- mine closure and rehabilitation planning;
- providing specialist advice for technical site issues including ecological, Aboriginal archaeology and cultural heritage management, and historical archaeology and heritage services;
- preparing both internal and statutory environmental report documentation including annual environmental reporting and the National Pollutant Inventory as well as compiling environmental key performance indicators;
- facilitating community involvement programs including community meetings and preparing community information brochures; and
- understanding relevant policy and regulatory frameworks, including development of good working relationships with government authorities.
