Planning For The Future Of The Shoalhaven City Coastline

Dates for Communtiy Meetings
  1. Opportunities for community discussion of issues and potential management responses are vital to the success of the Shoalhaven City Coastline Management Plan.
  2. Four types of community meetings are planned during the project;
    1. Workshops for Council and State agency officers, the Shoalhaven Coastline Management Committee and representatives of community groups will be held at Nowra and Ulladulla during July 2006. These workshops will discuss the scope of the project, key management concepts and major issues that need to be thoroughly investigated. They will set the overall direction for the project;
    2. Local area workshops will be held for communities in each of the five sectors of the Shoalhaven City coastline at intervals between September 2006 and December 2007. More information about these meetings will be available closer to the time. Each workshop will focus on the coastal hazards, threats, issues, and potential solutions for that area. After each workshop, a Discussion Paper summarizing management issues and strategies for the area will be prepared;
    3. During 2008, a risk management workshop involving council and State agency officers, the Shoalhaven Coastline Management Committee and representatives of community groups will integrate risks and priority responses for the whole of the City's coastline.
    4. Towards the end of 2008, the draft Shoalhaven City Coastline Management Plan will be exhibited. Community briefings will be held during the exhibition, so that residents can hear about the plan and offer their comments.
