Biodiversity Offsetting Investigations for Major Wind Farm Project in NSW

Umwelt were engaged by Tilt Renewables to provide ecological advice and services for their Rye Park Wind Farm project in July 2017. The Project has received state and Commonwealth Approvals for the construction of 92 wind turbines in the locality of Rye Park (approximately 34 kilometres north of Yass), NSW. The approvals require the development of comprehensive biodiversity offset strategies in accordance with relevant state and Commonwealth legislation/policy, and Umwelt has since undertaken substantial ecological surveys and assessments of a range of offset options, also including a reassessment of the impact site’s biodiversity credit requirements in accordance with the state project approval. Umwelt is working with Tilt Renewables to ensure that approval conditions are met and to assist in navigating biodiversity offset pathways to achieve a robust outcome for biodiversity that satisfies expectations.
