#ChooseToChallenge to facilitate change
The theme of International Women’s Day this year – #ChooseToChallege – is timely given some of the recent dialogue we have heard communicated across our social media channels these past few weeks. The call to action of this year’s IWD theme, is to forge a gender equal world where we celebrate women’s achievements, we raise awareness against bias, and act for equality. With 60% of our Umwelt workforce being women, we are conscious of the need to celebrate, stand up and reinforce the importance of gender equality. We have very talented women in our team, that are passionate about making a positive difference for our clients, across their respective roles and discipline. Each day, our great women lead and add tremendous value to our work at a project and business level.
Across last week and this week, members of our team will have participated in several IWD events across the country, including the UN Women’s breakfast in Sydney, the EFP International Women’s Day Breakfast in Newcastle and the Professional Environmental Women’s Association (PEWA) Nature of leadership Forum in Brisbane, for which we are a key sponsor.
We have also held some of our own internal events across our offices nationally, through panel discussions and morning teas, where we have shared some of the insights and experiences of some of our talented corporate and consulting teams and have enabled the voices of our female team members to shine through.
In everything we do, we are committed to advancing gender equality and the empowerment of women; and so, we challenge you to speak out about gender bias and inequality within your homes, your workplaces, and your communities – #ChooseToChallenge – to facilitate change.
