Leaders of the Future

In November this year, Infrastructure Lead, Tim Browne (second from left) participated in the six week Future Leaders Program, an initiative of local industry member organisation HunterNet Co-operative. The program in its third year was created for future young leaders to draw on their current skill set and gain additional skills through mentoring and developing a team based submission based on subject criteria, supported by an experienced Industry mentors.

Umwelt are pleased to congratulate Tim Browne and his fellow team members on winning this year’s HunterNet Co-operative Future Leaders Program. Team Watagan developed a strategic plan, the Hunter Regional Deal, that they believed would drive economic growth and make the Hunter Australia’s most innovative, prosperous and liveable region; further resulting in the Hunter Region being recognised as an industry benchmark in the global export market in 2037!

“I would highly recommend this program to all future or potential leaders, the additional skills I have acquired along with the motivation to strive for excellence in my role made this experience most worthwhile.” said Tim Browne.

The HunterNet Future Leader program expands on the participant’s networks, linking them with the best of the Hunter, supported by mentors drawn from a cross-section of Hunter businesses. Team Watagan was one of four teams competing in peak manufacturing group HunterNet’s annual Future Leaders program, which this year set the challenge of how to fuel unprecedented growth to cement Newcastle and the Hunter as the industry benchmark and world leaders in the global export market by 2037.
