Principal or Senior Heritage / Archaeology Consultant, NSW/ACT
Location: Canberra, Sydney, or Newcastle.
Umwelt are seeking to employ an experienced, collaborative and delivery focused Principal or Senior Heritage Consultant to join our growing Heritage team in either New South Wales or ACT. This role can be located within either Canberra, Sydney, or Newcastle.
Principal Heritage / Archaeology Consultant
You will have significant experience and expertise in built heritage / historical archaeological management and conservation. Their role involves overseeing and leading heritage and archaeological related projects, providing strategic guidance, and ensuring the quality and compliance of deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the delivery of heritage / archaeological management projects. This includes overseeing project teams, coordinating fieldwork, managing budgets and timelines, and ensuring that project goals are met
- Engaging with clients to understand their project requirements, provide expert advice on heritage and archaeological matters, and develop tailored solutions that meet client needs while adhering to regulatory requirements and best practices
- Presenting technical findings and relaying information to non-technical persons, including clients and community
- Well-versed in heritage and archaeological legislation, regulations, and guidelines, and apply this knowledge to assess significance, develop conservation strategies, and mitigate impacts on heritage and archaeological values
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff, helping to develop their skills and expertise in heritage and archaeological management and consultancy
Senior Heritage / Archaeology Consultant
You will provide advice on built heritage and historical archaeological matters. This role requires extensive experience in conducting heritage and archaeological assessments, investigations, and evaluations to identify and assess the significance of heritage sites, buildings, structures, landscapes and archaeological remains.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to identify, assess and evaluate heritage and archaeological resources that may be affected by proposed development projects.
- Conduct field surveys and investigations to document and assess heritage and archaeological resources, using techniques such as archaeological excavation, archival research, field surveys, and remote sensing technologies
- Evaluate the potential impacts of development projects on heritage and archaeological resources, considering factors such as project design, construction activities, and potential changes to the landscape
- Comply with relevant heritage and archaeological legislation, regulations, and guidelines
- Liaise with a range of stakeholders, including government agencies, developers, planners, and heritage organisations
- Develop strategies and measures to mitigate adverse impacts on heritage and archaeological resources, such as archaeological excavations, monitoring, heritage interpretation, adaptive reuse, and community engagement programs
- Prepare technical reports, assessments, and documentation summarizing their findings, recommendations, and proposed mitigation measures
The ideal candidate for either one of these roles will have strong stakeholder engagement, experience in providing advice and advocacy on heritage and archaeological matters to clients, government agencies and community groups, as well as the ability to prepare, edit and format technical reports.
Key Requirements:
- A degree in Heritage Management/Conservation, Archaeology, Architecture or related field
- A minimum of 10+ years of experience as a Principal and 5+ years as a Senior
- Preferably experience in a consultancy environment
- Knowledge of relevant State and Commonwealth heritage legislation and associated regulations and guidelines
- Demonstrate leadership experience, including project management and team coordination
- Interest and experience with client relationship management
- Australian Drivers licence (ideally with 4WD experience)

Project Finance Controller, QLD
Location: Brisbane
The Project Finance Controller will manage all elements of projects and ensure they are completed within the budget and schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer the accurate and timely creation of projects within our ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) in accordance with the contract and project deliverables
- Work with Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle to drive efficient and effective client invoicing in line with project plans and agreements
- Prepare and provide financial analysis and information to assist project managers and support commercial decisions

Senior Project Administrator, NSW
Location: Newcastle
As the Senior Project Administrator, you will be a key member of our national administration team, which provides support for administrative and project tasks across the organisation. You will collaborate effectively and interact with different people within and beyond Umwelt, such as our employees at all levels, the admin team, customers, external providers, and agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Word processing tasks, including proof reading, editing, and formatting of a variety of documents from letters and proposals to large, complex, multi-volume reports in accordance with the Umwelt style guide and templates
- Delegating or being delegated, tasks within the administration team and ensuring that they are completed in accordance with existing policies and procedures as well as the Quality Management System processes
- Liaise with employees, vendors, clients, and suppliers regarding all administration information
- Supporting employees by facilitating interdepartmental communications and interactions between internal and external parties

Umwelt has an exciting newly created opportunity for an Application & Integration Specialist with good business acumen, combined with solid experience in implementation, integration, and support skills in Microsoft 365, SharePoint, PowerApps, PowerAutomate, Low Code Platform Integration and Support.
Reporting into our national ICT Lead and working on our Microsoft 365 solution stack and related enterprise applications, you will manage, integrate, and improve business solutions that match our growing business needs and capabilities. You will work with various SaaS platforms and integration tools that provide services for different types of users located nearby and nationally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical advice and build solutions to meet the specific needs of our SharePoint and Microsoft 365 Power Platforms, and drive initiatives across work areas and geographical locations
- Expertise in managing SharePoint environments, encompassing tasks such as site collection administration, templating, automated TeamSite builds, and ongoing maintenance of SharePoint servers and services

Our ideal candidate is a graduate that has some prior experience in conducting ecological field work and is motivated to be mobile and develop their technical skills in vegetation and flora identification and targeted species surveys. About you
We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic Field Ecologists who meet the following criteria:
- A degree/post-graduate qualification in environmental science, botany, zoology environmental science (or similar)
- A strong desire to work flexible hours and travel for ecological fieldwork including possible trips of extended duration (one week or greater) in rural or remote regions
- Experience in undertaking ecological surveys and a demonstrated passion for flora and/or fauna
- Prior experience or knowledge of NSW Plant Community Types will be highly regarded
- Experience in developing and maintaining positive relationships with a range of stakeholders including peers, clients, and government agencies
- Ability to work in a professional team as well as autonomously
- Capability to effectively communicate with team members
- Experience in GIS and electronic data capture
- Appreciation of the importance of WHS matters

- Prior experience and demonstrated knowledge of NSW Plant Community Types is highly regarded
- A willingness to support the team on all ecological survey types, including fauna surveys
- Demonstrated experience in planning and management of ecological surveys for large scale development or environmental offsetting projects
- Project management skills will be highly regarded
- An ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with a range of stakeholders including clients and government agencies, as well as other staff
- Demonstrated experience in the collection and interpretation of ecological and spatial data
