Reducing our Footprint – Valuing Biological Diversity
Renewable energy is an important step along the path to reduce our planet’s carbon footprint. This International Day for Biological Diversity, we are looking back at some of the renewable energy projects on which Umwelt has worked, recollecting the incredible biological values within these areas.
In remote regions of Australia, our ecologists often work both day and night to identify species and understand their role in the landscape. This work helps our clients design their renewable energy infrastructure to minimize impact on biological diversity.
The photos below were taken during an ecological survey for a wind farm development on the Central Queensland Coast. They highlight the sensitivity of the landscape, the importance of working with industry to minimize footprint and protect these important values, and move towards a more sustainable energy future.
Join us at Umwelt today in celebrating the Biological Diversity of Australia.
