Biodiversity Assessment

Under the new NSW Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 (BC Act), a large proportion of developments in NSW will require an ecological assessment using the new Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM). The BC Act requires that all assessments under the BAM must be undertaken by an Accredited BAM Assessor, appointed by the Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH).

Umwelt has ten Accredited BAM Assessors able to prepare assessments under the BC Act. Umwelt now has one of the largest Accredited BAM Assessor teams in NSW available to prepare Biodiversity Development Assessment Reports and Biodiversity Stewardship Site Assessment Reports for developments and proposed in-perpetuity conservation areas, respectively.

Umwelt also has one of the largest teams of Accredited BioBanking, Biodiversity Certification and FBA Assessors under the now repealed Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995, who can assist with existing projects under the transitional arrangements of the legislation.

Umwelt is putting into practice a range of approaches to ensure that our BAM assessments are delivered in a cost-effective, targeted fashion to the benefit of our clients. In coming weeks and months we will provide more detail on our BAM services through this website and elsewhere.

To find out how we can assist you with any ecological assessment under the BAM, please contact 1300 793 267 to speak with one of our Assessors, or email BAM@umwelt.com.au
