Investing in future leaders of environmental & social sustainability
At Umwelt, we believe meaningful change happens when evidence, community insight, and practical solutions come together. That’s why we’ve created the Umwelt Scholarship in Integrated Environmental and Social Sustainability, in partnership with the University of Newcastle, to support first year students who want to help shape a more sustainable and equitable future.
This scholarship was created to honour the outstanding legacy of Pam Dean-Jones. Pam retired in 2024, after dedicating more than 25 years to Umwelt, shaping the field of integrated environmental studies, management, and planning across the Newcastle region. Her commitment to evidence-based practice, community engagement, and practical solutions has inspired many professionals and students.
The scholarship not only provides financial assistance for up to four years, but also offers mentoring and real-world experience, reflecting Pam’s belief in the power of education and collaboration to drive meaningful change.
Who can apply
We welcome applications from first year undergraduates enrolled in eligible programs within University of Newcastle’s College of Engineering, Science and Environment or College of Human and Social Futures.
More information, including the scholarship conditions, can be found at Umwelt Scholarship in Integrated Environmental and Social Sustainability.
More than financial support
Beyond funding, scholarship recipients will have opportunities for work experience and professional networking with Umwelt.
We’re very excited to support the next generation of environmental and social consultants who are passionate about enabling change for the better.
